Cops: Robbery Suspects Fired Gun Inside Uniondale Store

Nassau County police are looking for two suspects who tried to rob a Uniondale grocery store Wednesday night at gunpoint and fled after firing one shot, police said.

The suspects, who were only described as black males, entered K & J Grocery on Jerusalem Avenue at 8:18 p.m. and demanded money while brandishing a handgun, police said.

The 67-year-old male employee who was being threatened screamed, apparently spooking the suspects, who then fled the store, police said. One of the suspects managed to fire one shot before leaving, but no one was injured, police said.

The suspects left without taking anything, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-224-TIPS. All calls are anonymous.
