Under the guidance of Coach Tom Flatley, the Garden City High School varsity football team and cheerleaders joined together and raised money to cover shipping expenses to send holiday stockings to troops overseas.
In a coordinated effort with the primary and elementary schools, students in Garden City Public Schools are collecting and stuffing holiday stockings to be sent to U.S. troops. Because of the high school teams’ hard work, time and efforts, the bake sale proceeds will cover the cost of shipping 400 stockings to troops from the area that are deployed on active duty. One participant said, “Last year we sent over 1,000 stockings and we are well on our way to surpassing that number this year!”
