Floor Hockey Program Every Friday
The Garden City Recreation Department is proud to announce it will once again offer a Floor Hockey Program this winter at Field House @ St. Pauls.
The program will be open to village residents between the ages of 5-13 on select Fridays according to the following schedule: Floor hockey will run on the following Fridays only: Dec. 11, 18, Jan. 8, 22 and Feb. 5.
Ages 5 and 6: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ages 7 and 8: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Ages 9 and 10: 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
Ages 11-13: 7:45 to 8:45 p.m.
The cost of this program will be $20. In order to play in this program, all participants must wear the following equipment at all times: hockey helmet with cage, hockey gloves, shin pads, sneakers and a hockey stick. To register for this program, please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue.
Children’s Indoor Instructional Tennis Program Starts January 4
The Recreation Department’s Winter Session of Children’s Tennis for ages 4-18 is quickly filling. These classes begin the week of Jan. 4 and run through April. Please visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue to register for any of our classes.
Interview Dates for Summer Employment at Garden City Pool
The Garden City Pool is pleased to announce the dates for pool employment interviews for the 2010 season. These interviews are open to people who are currently high school seniors and older. All potential pool staff whether new or previously employed by the pool, must make an appointment for an interview. The interview dates are as follows:
Monday, Dec. 28 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Wednesday, Dec. 30 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Recreation Office
Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – Cluett Hall
Any one that is interested in an interview is encouraged to call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to schedule an appointment. Applications, which must be brought to the interview, are available in the Recreation Office.
Adult Programs in the Field House
The Recreation Adult Programs in the Field House began Tuesday, Oct. 13, according to the following schedule:
Mondays
Mens’ Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Tuesdays
Mens’ Over 30 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Wednesdays
Mens’ Open Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Mens’ Over 40 Basketball 7:30-10 p.m.
Thursdays
Adult Volleyball 7:30-10 p.m.
Adult Soccer 8:30-10 p.m.
These programs are open to residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City who have graduated from high school. All programs listed are free of charge and strictly “pick up.” Any resident wishing to participate must show their license each week in addition to signing in. A non-resident guest may play but must be accompanied by a resident to enter.
