Happicaps Perform Annual Christmas Show

Every year the members of the Happicaps gather together to perform an outstanding Christmas show. Happicaps is an outreach program for challenged adults and is run by Carol Fazzolare, Claire Boylan and Priscilla Szachacz, along with Karen Murtagh. They meet once a week, for most of the year, with a very short hiatus in the summer.

A good part of the fall is spent in preparing and practicing many long hours for their spectacular Christmas production. Most are transported from their group homes by their caregivers so they can participate in the program.

Invited guests are only too happy to attend and perform for the audience between the acts of the Happicaps. Included are: Rose Marie Farrar, Herricks Community Players Director John Hayes, Shirley Clarke, Robert Valli, Warren Schein and Andria Amarosa, each lending their special talent to the program and backed up by the multi-talented Frank Sanchez on the piano.

As in the past, the last number is all of the Happicaps walking in from the back with battery illuminated lights and up on the stage. The Nativity is narrated by Peggy Sullivan and then the group sings the final song of the night, Silent Night, which is always very moving.
