Daylight Saving Time 2011: Daylight Saving Time is Sunday

Get ready to lose an hour of sleep.

Daylight Saving Time is Sunday so prepare your clocks to move forward.

Moving the clock forward on Sunday doesn’t just mean more daylight but it’s also about saving energy after a long winter.

Daylight Savings Time is always on the second Sunday of March and most of the United States begins DST at 2:00 a.m to avoid disruption. Most people are home at this time and public transportation isn’t running as it would during the day.

Many people dislike DST because it effects sleep patterns. On the other side however, people love that extra hour of daylight during summer days.

Also, DST is usually a good time to change the batteries of smoke detectors in the house.

Clocks will have to move back again on Nov. 6.
