The Washington Bullets are back. Well, just in color, not name.

The Washington Wizards unveiled the teams new jersey on Tuesday, that will remind fans of the old days, before the team changed its nickname.

The new jersey: red, white and blue colors with horizontal stripes will probably go over well with Wizards fans after the team went from the Bullets to Wizards in 1997.

The home and road uniforms have subtle differences. The home jersey is white and has “wizards” going across the front, and the road jersey is red and has “washington” written across the jersey. Both have matching shorts with the initials “dc” on the bottom left.

At the unveiling to model the new uniforms were Wizards players Jordan Crawford, who modelled the road jersey, and John Wall, showing off the white home jersey. Both stood in front of two banners with their hands behind their backs.

According to the Associated Press fans have been asking for change from Wizards owner Ted Leonsis, ever since he took over the franchise.

“It’s just part of a set of overall things that we’re trying to accomplish,” Leonsis told the Associated Press. “I’m not naive enough to think that changing the colors (by itself) will improve anything, but I saw the power of the change and newness with the Capitals.”

A poll on the Washington Post website revealed that 78 percent of voters like the new look.

The jersey change for the Wizards may be part of turning around the franchise that has struggled in recent years. Last year the team finished with the third worst record in the Eastern Conference at 23-59.

On the bright side, the Wizards landed speedy point guard John Wall with the first pick in last years NBA Draft. In his first year in the NBA, Wall averaged just over 16 points per game through 69 games.

The one question left after all of this: Is a name change in order?
