It has been announced that there will be a Halo 4 coming out by Microsoft by the end of 2012. This was revealed at this morning’s Electronic Entertainment Expo [E3] in Los Angeles. Along with Halo 4 will be a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary.

Halo 4 will start the beginning of the second trilogy for the game on Xbox 360. In addition, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be released on November 15 of this year with a revamped version of the classic, including enhanced images, seven of the classic multiplayer maps that have been updated with Xbox Live game service, and online co-op play used with the Xbox Live game service. This is for the tenth anniversary of the first Halo game created in 2001.

Right before the Expo, Microsoft pushed for an update on the E3 website to state that the start of the new trilogy is “on the way.” Even though post was immediately taken down, it still showed that there was more for the franchise of Halo.

This press leak was most likely made to create publicity for E3, since it had to compete today with Steve Jobs and Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference. At the Expo, Microsoft played a trailer for the new video game that featured Cortana and Master Chief, but did not show a lot of detail, which seemed to be a tease for Halo lovers, as well as preserving the story line for the game.

It is hard to believe that it has been ten years since the release of the original Halo game for Xbox. It is a good thing that gamers have more to look forward to from this news, since this is only the beginning of a new, interesting trilogy.
