“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” has been released marking the end of a billion dollar series that has lasted over 10 years.
Grab your wands, capes, pointy hats, and Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff paraphernalia and prepare for a long line and packed theater.
Fans were outside movie theaters on Long Island for the midnight showing when it was still light out. Most theaters offered a double feature special for fans who wanted to view Part 1 and Part 2 back to back.
Tickets were sold out for the midnight show and even for most show times this weekend, so fans of the “Harry Potter” series will still experience lines stretching to the parking lot.
Most fans bought tickets in advance to avoid any extra lines.
Be prepared to arrive at least an hour in advance to any show, 3D, Imax, or original. The lines will be long and the costumes will be outrageous as fans prepare to experience the last “Harry Potter” that will ever be released.
Don’t go in groups of more than four as bulk seating will not be found and bigger groups will have to split. Fans will have to wait in line to enter the theater, as well as the lines for the concession stand, and restroom. Grab your popcorn and get to your seat because the wait is definitely worth it.
Playing at over 4,000 locations the franchise has already broken the record for advance ticket sales and is anticipated to beat out every other movie this weekend explains Box Office Mojo. The movie is looking to surpass and break the record of “The Dark Knight” which nearly made $160 million during it’s opening weekend in 2008.
Deadline Hollywood notes that the movie made $43.5 million just for midnight shows and has reached a global earning of over $105 million.
Gear up for a theater packed with crazed fans dying to see the end of their favorite childhood series. There is a “Harry Potter” in every crowd, and even a Severous Snape, Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood. Movie theater employees have also gotten into the Potter spirit by dawning their own Hogwarts clothing.
