Today, on the anniversary of 9/11, rumors of a reported death photo have gone viral—Whether they have any truth to them, has yet to be determined.
Today, many Americans find relief that Osama bin Laden, the man behind the 9/11 attacks and was subsequently killed this past May, didn’t live to see the tenth anniversary of September 11. But as they find relief they also wonder if he’s really dead.
Following his death, many begged for photographic proof that the terrorist responsible for thousands of deaths was really dead, but officials refused to release any official death photo. Later, a photo went viral of a very dead Osama bin Laden. Back in May, TMZ reported that the picture of dead Osama that had surfaced was an obvious fake.
But according to CNN report in May, the real photo may be released one day and reported that CIA Director Leon Panetta said he thinks a photograph of Osama bin Laden’s body will be released at some point, but that it is up to the White House to make the final call.
Reportedly the genuine photos of Osama show a gunshot wound to his head but he’s unrecognizable in the photo. CNN also reported that an official said other photos including the raid on the compound and the terrorist’s burial at sea exist.
Yet to be confirmed, whether a photo of dead Osama will actually ever be released.
