Heavy D: Cause Of Death Released

061031 heavy dHeavy D died back in November and today, his cause of death was revealed.

He died from pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis, TMZ reported, which is often associated with long plane flights in which a clot can form due to prolonged immobility. The rapper had just returned from a Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales.

Popular 90s rapper, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon on November 8, after he was found unconscious on a walkway near his Beverly Hills home.

Only an hour later, he was pronounced dead. Heavy D died at 44 years old.

There were reportedly no signs of foul play and his death has since been reportedly classified as “natural” by the Coroner’s Office.

“BE INSPIRED,” was the rapper’s last tweet about 15 hours before he died. It followed a tweet in which the rapper offered his condolences to a famous boxer who passed away earlier in the week:  “SMOKIN JOE FRAZIER..RIP.. truly one of the best heavyweight champs that ever lived.. GODS SPEED,MR FRAZIER!”

As we previously reported, only a month before, the rapper made a surprise appearance at the BET Awards for his first live performance in over 10 years.

The Jamaican-born rapper is best known for leading Heavy D & the Boyz, a hip hop group that was most popular in the 1990s. So popular that Notorious B.I.G. referred to him in his hit song “Juicy.”

The group is best known for their hits, “Now That We Found Love,” and their album “Living Large.”
