Power couple, rapper Jay-Z and singer Beyonce have welcomed a baby girl into the world this weekend.

Her name is Blue Ivy Carter, and she’s made headlines for the past nine months now. The rumors were swirling that Beyonce was with child. The couple first revealed the pregnancy publicly at this past year’s MTV Video Music Awards when Beyonce shared the news on the black carpet and posed for pictures holding her bump.

And not only did news of Blue turn heads and make headlines, but it also broke records. According to the Associated Press, when mom Beyonce performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, it sparked a Twitter record– When Beyonce performed, there were 8,868 tweets per second and Twitter said that rate was a record for the service.

It hasn’t been confirmed what day Blue was born but the singer reportedly gave birth in a private wing of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City and according to the New York Daily News, Beyonce checked into the hospital Friday under the name Ingrid Jackson and rented out the hospital’s entire fourth floor for over $1 million.

Blue got quite the warm welcome from a slew of famous faces this weekend:

“Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already,” tweeted Gwyneth Paltrow.

“Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z,” tweeted Russell Simmons.

Rihanna tweeted: ”Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Blue follows the trend of every celebrity naming their child something quite unique like Paltrow’s Apple. Speculation about her name being Blue as MTV points out, may stem from the rapper’s favorite color. Jay once rhymed “My favorite hue is Jay-Z Blue.” He also named his albums “Blue Magic” and “The Blueprint.” Her middle name IVY, MTV points out, may stand of IV or “four,” which is the couple’s lucky number.
