The new music video from OK Go is quite impressive.
The video for “Needing/Getting” was made in partnership with Chevrolet and features over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles.
In the video, members of the band drive a Chevy Sonic outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and drive through the course creating an amazing performance of their hit song.
“Each piano had the lowest octaves tuned to the same note so that they’d play the right note no matter where they were struck,” reads the YouTube caption.
Damian drove through the car with the help of stunt driving lessons while Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka, and Andy Ross are along for the musical ride.
“The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording,” reads the YouTube caption of the video directed by Brian L. Perkins and Damian Kulash, Jr. and produced by Luke Ricci.
The video first aired during the Super Bowl, Sunday February 5 and then made its way to YouTube, becoming an instant hit. Since it was posted, it’s garnered over 8 million hits.
Ok Go is best known for their 2006 video for “Here It Goes Again,” in which the group performed on treadmills, and has since received over 50 million views.
