The second season of Game Of Thrones kicks off in April, everyone knows that and has their calendars marked already. What fans of the show don’t know is what exactly to expect.
Well, that’s not totally true. Readers may already have an idea what’s to come in Season 2 as the hit HBO show is based on the George R.R. Martin book series, A Song of Ice and Fire.
But for those who haven’t read up, a few teasers and trailers have been released over the past few months revealing clues about the upcoming season. This week the latest hint came in the form of a poster, an official Game Of Thrones Season 2 poster.
“War Is Coming,” reads the official poster, giving a stark reality at what’s to come in the HBO hit show’s sophomore season.
Just last Friday, a new trailer was released.
“The cold winter’s rising, storms come and go the big fish eat the little fish. Sometimes the ones with the most power have the least grace,” says the narrator as a shot of Jon Snow looking out into the distance flashes across the screen.
In the new two-minute trailer, nearly every character makes an appearance making it clear that this season will be one jam-packed with action.
In the trailer, it appears almost everyone is at odds. “The time to strike is now, the Starks fight the Lannisters and the Barathians fight each other,” says Daenerys Targaryen and vows to bring fire upon all of her enemies.
In another scene, Tyrion continues to show his distaste for his sister’s son, King Joffrey, referring to him as a lost cause.
Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert who died last season in a hunting accident, makes a surprising appearance as he reveals plans to take the throne too.
“My brother left no true-born heirs by right of birth and blood,” Stannis said in a previous trailer. “I do this day lay claim to the island throne of Westeros that all true men declare their loyalty. The iron throne is mine by right.”
“They will bend the knee or I will destroy them,” he warned.
The new season kicks off Sunday, April 1 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
