Jaleel White is best known as Urkel from “Family Matters,” but on this season on of “Dancing With The Stars” he is determined to show the public a new side of himself.
He is no longer the pre-pubescent, geeky, clumsy, snorting teenager that America fell in love with years ago.
While dancing to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight,” he had a sophisticated air about himself that resonated across the ball room.
During one of the practices Kym asks, “You’re famous with your Urkel dancing?” Though the judges might like to see some unique moves, Jaleel tells Kym that if she wants to win she doesn’t want to use the Urkel dance.
Jaleel agreed to do “Dancing With The Stars” because he wants to find out if he is coordinated enough to be a successful ballroom dancer. Even if Jaleel doesn’t have enough confidence in himself, Kym be able to insure him throughout the show. She has plenty of faith in Jaleel and called him a natural.
The judges already agree with Kim, they were thrilled with Jaleel’s first performance. Before they could even speak the host said, “Not even a trace of Urkel!”
“You are the icing on the cake, smooth.” Carri Ann Inaba happily announced.
“Without doubt this is the best first show of any season.” Added strict judge, Len Goodman.
“This show has been fantastic.” Bruno Tonioli emphatically said, impressed by mostly all of the performances from the night.
He and partner Kym Johnson seem to be a perfect match, and we look forward to see the continue to appear on Dancing With The Stars over the next weeks.
