Jonathan Antoine “Britain’s Got Talent” Performance (Video)

Well folks, Britian may have found their next Susan Boyle. And on the same show.

Picture 211A disheveled Jonathan Antoine took the stage of “Britain’s Got Talent” wearing sweats and a Jimi Hendrix t-shirt but stunned the crowd with his stellar voice.

Before taking the stage though, Antoine noted his insecurities, “I’ve always had problems with my size since I could remember” and that “It kind of damaged my confidence, quite a bit. When people would say something to me, it would take a little piece out of me.”

The 17-year-old was with Charlotte Jaconelli, 15, a classmate whom he performed a opera-pop duet with. “I’m quite protective of Jonathan,” said Charlotte of her partner. “It’s not judging a book by its cover.”

The crowd seemed to be non-believers as some could be seen snickering while the duo took the stage and judge Simon Cowell grilled them.

“You thought the combination would work?” Simon asked and then again questioned, “Do you think you could win?” A confident Charlotte said “Yes, together.”

Following the performance, Cowell changed his tune, raving “You are unbelievable” to Antoine, but his question remained of the combination. Cowell went on “Seriously, you have an outstandingly good voice. Jonathan, you are a future star” but urged Antoine to go it alone and leave Charlotte behind as she may hold him back.

Antoine refused to drop his partner saying, “We’ve come on here as a duo,” and “we’re going to stay here as a duo.”

We will have to wait and see if Antoine will follow in the successful footsteps of previous “Britain’s Got Talent” operatic singer Susan Boyle. In 2009, Susan Boyle appeared on the show and went on to record U.K.’s bestselling album of all time “I Dreamed A Dream.”
