Unlike last week’s drama filled episode of dancing with the stars that almost consisted of more tears than dance steps, Monday night’s show was almost drama free. Big emphasis on almost. Towards the end of “Dancing With The Stars” when the cameras scanned through all of the contestants who had just danced, the former “Little House on the Prairie” actress Melissa Gilbert and her professional dance partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy, were not there.

“If you’re wondering why Melissa and Maks are not here, she injured herself,” show host Tom Bergeron explained to the audience and the rest of the viewers at home during the last few seconds of the show. “And as a precaution, she’s gone to the hospital to get checked out.”

Earlier, the judges had told Melissa her performance was her best of the season. Len even claimed, “Melissa, I like you! You came out with confidence, you attacked the dance.” Although she was smiling while the judges were giving Melissa her ctitique, she remained silent. However, according to reports from Hollywood Reporter, one of the other pro dancers from “DWTS,” Karina Smirnoff, admitted to reporters that Melissa told the other dancers backstage she had hit her head on the floor while dancing. As a result she felt dizzy and light-headed.

To reassure her fans she was okay, Melissa tweeted “I‘m alright. Mild concussion and whiplash.”  She took to Twitter early Tuesday morning and added. “Very soon I will be safely home resting and being taken care of.”

She didn’t forget about her partner either: “@Maksim you are my champion. I adore you.” After that tweet, it’s obvious that she doesn’t blame Maksim for her injury.
