Marc Anthony has made it official, his divorce to Jennifer Lopez that is.

The singer has filed for divorce from Lopez Monday after eight months of separation. The singers were married for seven years and have twins, Max and Emme, 4.

“We have decided to end our marriage,” the stars said in a joint statement to PEOPLE previously. “This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.”

“It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time,” the couple said.

This won’t be the first divorce for both singers. Anthony was married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Tores from 2000 until 2002, and Lopez was married to waiter Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998 and then to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 until 2002.

Earlier, Lopez offered up juicy details of the relationship in the September issue of Vanity Fair.  The singer revealed her hope for love in the future, “I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love,” and added “It’s still my biggest dream.”

“I will always respect Marc as a singer and performer,” she told the magazine.“We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive. Together we could make magic—and we did. He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children.”

The two have since moved on. Lopez with Casper Smart and Anthony with Shannon De Lima.
