The residents of the Herricks School District are fortunate to have two bright, articulate individuals running for the open school board positions. Nancy Feinstein and Brian Hassan have both decided to seek these positions this election year. They will be replacing two dedicated, effective Board members, Richard Buckley and Peter Grisafi, both of whom choose not to seek re-election.
Nancy and Brian have been actively involved in the Herricks school district for a number of years and should bring a fresh perspective to the current board. Both are fully aware of the challenges facing the district at this time. Living within the 2% tax cap while maintaining an exceptional educational system will be extremely difficult.
We believe both individuals are well equipped to face this issue and other issues head on. While neither Nancy nor Brian believes they have all the answers, both are committed to working with the school board and administration as a unified group to ensure that the best programs possible are put into place.
At times, there may be disagreement on how to reach these goals but in the end we can rely on both Nancy and Brian to do what is best for the Herricks community as a whole.
There is a fine line in making decisions that benefit both the users and nonusers of the school system. We feel both of these candidates will be able to make good decisions while considering all the available facts.
Therefore, we ask all voters to cast your vote at the Herricks Community Center gym on May 15 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for Nancy Feinstein and Brian Hassan.
