Actress Katherine Heigl and her husband Josh Kelley recently announced that they have adopted a baby girl, Adalaide Marie Hope Kelley.
That’s right, Dr. Izzy has named her baby girl Addie.
The news was first revealed when Heigl, 33, and Kelley, 32, went out in the public in Beverly Hills with their new addition covered up in blankets for Mother’s Day.
“Everyone is doing great!” a source said to Us Weekly.
Unlike older sister Naleigh, who was adopted from South Korea, Adalaide Marie Hope is a US native born in Louisiana, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton said.
The older daughter was named after Heigl’s mother Nancy and her sister Margaret Leigh, according to the Daily Mail. Naleigh is a nickname that’s a mix of Nancy, her first name and Leigh, her sister’s middle name.
“Josh and I started talking about [adoption] before we were even engaged,” the former Grey’s Anatomy star Heigl said in February. “My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born. I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea.”
She continued, “You can’t help but be overcome with emotion. There were some tears and a lot of giddiness and joy.”
Heigl’s first daughter was described as a “special needs child.”
After announcing that she was going to be a mother for the first time on the Ellen DeGeneres Show she said to Ellen, “She is a special needs baby and because of that, it all moved so much faster. They wanted to get her to us as quickly as possible.”
