Mark Zuckerberg, billionaire and Facebook founder has married long-time girlfriend Patricia Chan in a surprise wedding!
The 28-year-old had been dating Chan, 27, for almost a decade but family and friends were shocked when they arrived at the ceremony, reported USA Today.
The two met when Mark was still a sophomore at Harvard and Facebook had not yet exploded, said CNN.
The couple had told family and friends the get together was to celebrate Chan’s graduation from med school, but when they saw Mark dressed up in a suit for possibly the first time ever, they knew they had been duped.
Chan who has just graduated from medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, as stated by her Facebook page announced her marriage to Mark via Facebook. Naturally, Mark followed in the same fashion.
“Mark added a life event to May 19, 2012 on his timeline: Married Priscilla Chan,” the page’s activity feed said.
He also posted a simple wedding photo of him and his wife which has over 600 comments and almost 750,000 likes.
So what kind of ring does a 28-year-old billionaire give to his wife? Probably not the rock you’re imagining. Zuckerberg designed a “very simple ruby” for Chan, a guest who attended the nuptials explained. No behemoth, jaw-dropping stone for this bride.
After the guest were informed they were surrounded by wedding guests instead of graduation guests, “everybody was shocked,” the guest said.
The guest would not say who attended the wedding in order to protect everyone’s privacy, but the guest did add that less than 100 people attended.
The Zuckerberg’s provided their guests with family-style food, included sushi from their favorite local restaurant, USA Today added.
What do you think about Zuckerberg secretly tying the knot?
