LI League to Abolish Cancer
Is hosting its Annual Presentation Of Research Grants. Hear about the latest research in: thyroid, kidney, colon and pancreatic cancers and pediatric brain tumors. Doctors from area hospitals such as Stony Brook University Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Columbia University Cancer Center will receive grants and discuss their research. 7:30 p.m. at the Plainview Old-Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview. Art Contest Party/Silent Auction
Nassau County Soil and Water Conservation District (NCSWCD) will host the Wine for Water Wise Land Use Art Contest Party and silent auction from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Barn at Old Bethpage Village Restoration with a live performance by Pearl Street Band. The $20 registration fee includes admission for the artist and one guest to the Contest Awards Party. Admission to the Wine for Water Wise Land Use Art Contest Party and silent auction is free for contest entrants; $35 for those going to the party or pay at the door. Meet the Artists Reception
Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc., of Old Bethpage, a not-for-profit agency that supports more than 3,000 individuals with different abilities on Long Island, together with The Lenz Winery, will host a Meet the Artists reception to celebrate a special exhibition created by individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. 5 to 7 p.m. at The Lenz Winery, 38355 Route 25 – Main Road, Peconic. The exhibition which runs until July 31 features two unique, yet related collections called “Revelations” and “Flags of Hope.” Both are being presented as one organized expression reflecting a powerful step on the road to developing the artists’ ability for self regulation, balance and control. Free Veterinary Lectures
