For the second year in a row, the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin and Robbins Community Foundation (DDBRCF), comprised of local franchise owners and Dunkin’ Brands corporate employees, has announced a $10,000 grant to Long Island Cares, Inc.-The Harry Chapin Food Bank to support emergency food distribution on Long Island.
The focus of the DDBRCF is to serve neighborhoods by taking care of basic needs in the community – safety, hunger relief and children’s health. In addition to this grant a number of the local Dunkin’ stores will be supporting a number of Long Island Cares events over the summer with donations of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and refreshments.
Robin Amato, Director of Development and Communications for Long Island Cares expressed gratitude to the DDBRCF for their generosity. “We are grateful to Dunkin’ Donuts for their recognition of the seriousness of the issue of hunger, especially child hunger. The generous donation from the Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin Robbins Community Foundation will go a long way in our efforts to battle hunger on Long Island. We are especially excited about our Dunkin’ Donuts partners who will be working with us in the coming months on a number of special events. We are grateful to have such involved community partners.”
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation select grant recipients based on the magnitude of the problem, the worthiness of the cause, the reputation of the recipient organization and the number of people it serves. Launced in 2006, the DDBRCF giving toal is more than $2 million.
