Holocaust Memorial Museum

On Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom Hashoah), Temple Beth Torah, located at 243 Cantiague Road in Westbury, will have a display of artifacts rescued from the Holocaust.  Owners of this material will show and explain what it is and where it came from. Some of the people are survivors, children of survivors or just have a story to tell. Film clips will be shown on a continuous basis and there will be a speaker. A service will follow. Children from the Hebrew school will also view the “Pop-Up Museum.” All are welcome.

On Sunday, April 7, Hofstra Law will host a free legal assistance clinic for all veterans. Free consultations with pro-bono attorneys who specialize in elder law, tax, wills, estate, family law, VA benefits, claims, disability, employment, USERRA, housing, bankruptcy, debtor/creditor matters, medicare/medicaid, landlord-tenant issues and more. Midway Movies: Shanghai Ghetto

Monday Night at the Midway Movies is one of the synagogue’s finest adult education programs, though it doesn’t quite feel like one. People gather not just to watch great movies, but also to view and review them with Jewish eyes. All films are shown with English subtitles for anyone with listening challenges. Admission is free and the public is welcome. This week, the film is documentary Shanghai Ghetto, not rated, 95 minutes. Warning: this film features very graphic footage from the concentration camps. Film starts at 7:30 p.m.

St. Margaret’s High Tea

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church invites the community to celebrate spring at the 10th Annual High Tea, featuring fabulous tasty treats and a special “Vintage Boutique.’ Gifts and raffles available all afternoon. Barbershop Harmony Concert

The Barbershop Harmony Society’s Nassau Mid-Island Chapter takes center stage at Carle Place High School (168 Cherry Lane) to offer “Barbershop – Broadway & Beyond,” on Saturday evening, April 20 at 8:07 pm. Tickets are $15 at the door.
