Nassau County police are investigating an attempted car jacking at gunpoint in Elmont early Thursday morning.

A 41-year-old man was sitting in his parked car in front of his Kingston Avenue home when a man with his face covered opened the car door, ordered the victim out and displayed a black handgun at 12:25 a.m., police said.

The victim pulled the door closed and drove away. The would-be robber fled on foot eastbound on Freeman Avenue.
