A 54-year-old  East Patchogue man was fatally struck by a tractor trailer while walking on Sunrise Highway in Bohemia, Suffolk County police said.

Gary Abrams was walking in the middle lane of Route 27 when he was hit by a westbound tractor trailer driven by Tiago Teixeira, 27, of New Jersey, at 10:14 p.m. Friday, police said.

Abrams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Units examined the truck and towed it from the scene.

Fifth Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to contact them at 631-854-8552.
