Talon Air and Patients AirLift Services teamed up to fly seven children who have experienced traumatic burns to The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp in Union, CT.
Located in Farmingdale, Talon Air Inc is the leader in private air travel from the tri-state area to everywhere around the world. Along with state-of-the-art fleet and facilities, they are known for having safe, comfortable flights.
Patient AirLift Services, which has been partnering with Talon Air since 2011 in this wonderful cause, covers flights across the Northeast and more. These flights transport people who need specialized medical services such as chemotherapy patients, people with immune-deficiencies, wounded military personnel or people that are too ill to fly on commercial airlines. People who lack the financial means may also be accommodated. Pilots in the network donate their time and experience to facilitate the operation.
The camp, The Arthur C. Luf Children’s Burn Camp, provides many services for children ages 8-18 and is supported by the Connecticut Burns Care Foundation. It is the only one of its kind in the Northeast. The seven children, ages 11-16, were driven from Canada across the border to Massena, NY, where they were flown by Talon Air to Bradley, CT. The children participated in activities that focused on building self-esteem and confidence. Many had to overcome anxieties, and adapt to their injuries on both a physical and social level.
Talon Air founder and CEO Adam Katz, who has been a pilot since 1977, is blending his passion for flying with his desire to help others.
“I love anything that has to do with aviation and I like to help people. It’s a charitable thing to do” said Katz. “Giving back to your community is a nice thing also.” These seven children are lucky to get treated at the best facility around, and this would have not been possible without the help of Talon Air and Patients AirLift Services.
