A man was fatally shot in Hempstead on Wednesday night, according to Nassau County police, who are searching for the killer.

Officers responded to a shooting shortly before 10 p.m. on Dartmouth Street, where they found the victim, who was later pronounced dead, a police spokeswoman said.

The victim’s identity was not immediately available. Police have not made any arrests.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigaiton.
