Congressman Steve Israel visited fifth-graders at Manorhaven Elementary School to discuss the importance and responsibilities of local and federal government.
Israel discussed his duties as an elected official, spoke about local and federal government and held a question-and-answer session with students, who asked him what he loves most about his job, how long his work week is and how long he’s been an elected official.
Israel emphasized the importance of communication, listening and helping others, noting that such qualities define students as leaders in their community.
