Roslyn Water Quality Update

waterState Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) offered the following update on efforts to get an air stripper placed in a non-residential area to ensure continued high water quality in the Roslyn Water District:

“[Recently], I held a followup meeting with Roslyn Water District officials and Assemblymembers Michelle Schimmel and Chuck Lavine, County Legislator Rich Nicolello, members of County Executive Ed Mangano’s Administration, North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, and Roslyn Estates Mayor Jeffrey Schwartzberg to work towards an agreement which places an air stripper in an area away from residential homes. This will help ensure that the Roslyn Water District maintains high water quality with as minimal impact as possible on surrounding residents. With everyone at the table committed to getting this done, I am happy with the progress to date.

“Additionally, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, in response to requests I and other community stakeholders made, has agreed to take on an investigation to determine the source of the contamination,” he continued. “This will help ensure that the contamination is addressed entirely.

“I will continue to update residents on these efforts as we move forward,” Martins concluded.
