Thirty seniors from MacArthur’s economics class volunteered to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s Student Build Program. After pledging $3,000 to the organization, MacArthur students spent the day learning construction skills and meeting the Habitat homeowner. Last month, students helped put up sheetrock on the ceilings and walls. During two volunteer trips, students learned about the cost of living on Long Island and how Habitat for Humanity assists to provide affordable housing. Working alongside the Habitat homeowner and getting to know the family they were building for was a rewarding experience for these students.
