The Jericho School District topped Long Island’s seven schools featured on the Washington Post Annual America’s Most Challenging High Schools List.
Jericho came in with the highest local ranking of #83 and Syosset ranked #182.
America’s Most Challenging High Schools, compiled by writer Jay Mathews, ranks schools through an index formula that is a simple ratio based on the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year.
A ratio of 1.000 means the school had as many tests as graduates. Our school surpassed that average with Jericho’s ratio at 5.858 and Syosset’s ratio at 4.461.
