A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his wife who was riding on the back was seriously injured when they crashed in Holbrook early Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.
James Burvenich, of Huntington Station, was driving northbound on Patchogue Holbrook Road when he lost control of his Honda on a curve and the motorcycle struck a guardrail at 1:12 a.m., police said.
Burvenich and his 33-year-old wife, LeeAnn, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead and she was listed in serious condition.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor. Both husband and wife were wearing helmets.
Sixth Squad detectives impounded the motorcycle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the crash to contact them at 631-854-8652.
