A man died when his car crashed and burst into flames in Cold Spring Harbor on Tuesday night.

Suffolk County police said the victim was driving a Dodge Charger northbound on Woodbury Road when he apparently lost control of the car and crashed into several trees near Hawxhurst Road shortly before 11 p.m.

The driver was found outside the burning car and was taken to Huntington Hospital in Huntington, where he was pronounced dead nearly three hours later.

The victim’s name was not immediately released.

Second Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-854-8252.
