A bicyclist died after being hit by a New York State parks vehicle at Heckscher State Park in East Islip over the weekend, authorities said.

The collision occurred where a bicycle path meets the main park roadway near parking field 2 at 10:41 a.m. Friday, State Park Police said.

The victim was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where the biker was pronounced dead. The victim’s name was not immediately released.

The New York State Police accident reconstruction unit is assisting in the continuing investigation.

State Park Police ask that anyone with information about this to case call them at 631-321-3700. All calls will be kept confidential.
