Huntington Station Shooting Kills 1, Wounds Another

A 25-year-old man was killed and a second man was wounded during a shooting in the victims’ hometown of Huntington Station on Wednesday night, Suffolk County police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a gunman firing shots at a group of people outside of a home at the corner of East 9th Street and Varney Avenue at 9:35 p.m., police said.

Upon arrival, they found Daniel Carbajal with a gunshot to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, 21-year-old Anthony Napolitano, was taken to Huntington Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to his leg.

The suspect fired two more shots at the house and then fled on foot southbound on Varney Avenue, police said.
