A 25-year-old man was killed and a second man was wounded during a shooting in the victims’ hometown of Huntington Station on Wednesday night, Suffolk County police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a gunman firing shots at a group of people outside of a home at the corner of East 9th Street and Varney Avenue at 9:35 p.m., police said.

Upon arrival, they found Daniel Carbajal with a gunshot to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim, 21-year-old Anthony Napolitano, was taken to Huntington Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to his leg.

The suspect fired two more shots at the house and then fled on foot southbound on Varney Avenue, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about the shooting to call them at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
