Village School’s third grade students recently took a much anticipated trip to the Bronx Zoo where they hoped to catch a glimpse of the animals they had studied for their in-depth research projects. For months, the children worked diligently on their animal reports. They even fashioned dioramas of their animals’ specific habitat that featured tiny but very detailed clay replicas of their creatures. At the zoo, they were able to see many of the animals up close and personal. The children were fascinated by zebras, elephants, peacocks, and more. The monorail ride gave them a spectacular aerial view of the animals in their habitats. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was the sight of a newborn baby gorilla nestled in the arms of its mother. The trip was such a wonderful way to highlight to the culmination of their hard work.
