An alleged drunk driver critically injuring a bicyclist in Wyandanch early Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Marion Johnson, 63, of Roosevelt was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He will be arranged Saturday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Johnson was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Straight Path at 1:27 a.m. when he allegedly struck 36-year-old Ishmeil Thomas, police said.
Thomas was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and was listed in critical condition, police said.
Johnson’s vehicle was impounded following the crash.
Detectives are still investigating the crash. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
