Floral Park Recreation News

With the summer programs at the Floral Park Recreation Center just completed, plans have been finalized for a full slate of youth, adult and senior residents for the coming fall months. The ever popular programs and some new activities will be offered for the new season.

Along with Tiny Tots gymnastics, yoga for kids and children gardening, for the first time, a teen fitness class, college workshop and cartooning classes have been put in place for the younger members of the community. Adults will once again have the aerobics classes, morning boot camp, yoga, Zumba gold and knitting to look forward to. Senior once again will enjoy the silver sneakers exercise, silver sneakers gentle movement and knitting day time programs.

The series of adult tennis lessons is set for the cooler months still to come. Classes will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings (11 a.m. to noon) and Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The classes offer individual and group instructions for both the beginner and intermediate level player.

After a very successful season, the majority of teams that played in summer volleyball leagues expressed an interest in continuing play during the fall season. Night time matches are planned for 7, 7:45 and 8:30 p.m., Mondays through Thursday nights. Roster forms are now available in the Park shelter house. Captains from the summer teams have been contacted and all new teams are welcomed. Registration is set for Sept. 2 and 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelter House.

Registration for the youth, adult, senior program and tennis lessons is as follows: Tuesday, Sept. 9 and Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m, in the Recreation/Pool Building. Seniors may register on those two days from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Pool Building), while tennis players may also register from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Recreation/Pool Building.

Detailed information (program dates/fees, etc.) related to all fall Recreation Department’s program can be found on the village website (fpvillage.org).
