Floral Park Chamber of Commerce’s Networking Event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2 from noon to 2 p.m. at Valley National Bank on Hillside Ave., sponsored by Marjory Giordani, manager of Valley National Bank. Attendance is free.
The Sewanhaka Central High School District and the District PTA will hold a district-wide college and career night in Elmont High School’s gymnasium, 555 Ridge Rd. at 7 p.m. for district students, their families and all district residents. More than 100 representatives will be present.
The West End Civic Association will meet on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 8 p.m. at the Atlantic Avenue Firehouse’s meeting room. The guest speaker, New York State Senator Jack Martins, will discuss state developments as they relate to the village and WECA members. President Perry Criscitelli urges all members and invites Floral Park residents to attend. Also in attendance will be Village Trustee Dominick Longobardi, answering village questions.

The Town of Hempstead’s E-Cycling collection will be held on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Town Park Point Lookout Parking Field on Lido Blvd. in Point Lookout.
A college fair will be held at Nassau Coliseum on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Queens County Farm will host its “Kickoff To Fall” celebration on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The farmer’s market will include Hudson Valley apples, donuts, fresh cider and apple pie. Admission is free.

The Hempstead Town Board will honor six dedicated members of the Hispanic community during the town’s annual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month on Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, 1 Washington St. in Hemsptead. All are welcome to attend. Through Oct. 15, the Ikarus Gallery Cultural Program will present an exhibit of paintings by Latino artists in the lobby of town hall.
