Special thanks go out to Dr. Thomas Fasano and a former Massapequa graduate who works for The Harlem Globetrotters, as they gave the students at McKenna Elementary School the opportunity and privilege to meet Handles Franklin, a basketball player on the Harlem Globetrotters.

Franklin visits schools and teaches the students the ABCs and 123s of anti-bullying, and why “Bullying is not cool!” His genuine, compassionate personality thoroughly engaged all 575 members of the audience throughout the assembly. Some lucky students and teachers were invited on stage to play basketball with him, and enjoyed the frolicking and basketball tricks that Franklin performed.

The message was very clear: If you see a bully, take Action, be Brave, and be Compassionate. Always 1: Listen to your parents and teachers with respect, 2: Do well in school, and 3: Follow your dreams.

McKenna School will incorporate these ABCs and 123s in the school theme, and strive to live this important message each and every day.
