Technical Honor Society Members Inducted

During a candle lighting ceremony, Levittown’s G.C. Career and Technical Center celebrated the induction of 39 new members of the National Technical Honor Society. Being inducted into the society is one of the highest honors bestowed on a high school tech student, and selection is based upon a student having achieved a cumulative GPA of 88 percent, demonstrating exceptional character and leadership skills, and participating in community service.

During her address, Principal Joan Lorelli noted that the students’ induction is a cause to celebrate, but challenged them to not be satisfied with this honor itself. “Continue to strive towards even greater goals,” she said. “Live up to the expectations of your community, your school and most importantly, yourselves.”

After each of the officers lit a candle representing a tenet of the society and the new officers were sworn in, inductee Brian Quinn presented electrical technology teacher assistant Gabrielle Fiscante with the G.C. Tech Honorary Member Award for her continued support for the technical education program. National Technical Honor Society advisor Cristy Pastore then awarded each student with a certificate and led the students in the society’s pledge.

The G.C. Career and Technical Center offers programs in automotive technology, computer animation, cosmetology, culinary arts, electrical technology, graphic arts, medical assisting and police science/EMT.
