The Great Neck Park District election for two park board commissioner spots is this coming Tuesday, Dec. 9. Candidates for the three-year seat currently held by Park Board Chairman Dan Nachmanoff include Nachmanoff, Neil Leiberman and Jeffrey Meir Stein. Candidates for the remaining two years of Ruth Tamarin’s recently vacated seat include Frank Cilluffo, Laura Cohen, Sharon Epstein and Eileen S. Falk. All of the new terms will begin on Jan. 1, 2015.
At the (published) invitation of the Great Neck Record, the candidates were invited to submit statements and photographs to support their candidacies. All candidates, except one, replied and all such information appeared in the Record during the past few weeks.
Park District residents can vote at their designated polling places from 3 to 9 p.m. For polling locations, call the park district offices at 516-482-0181 or 516-487-7665.
Four election districts have been established for Park District elections with each election district having a separate polling place located within its boundaries. The park district is hopeful that these separate polling places will make for greater voter participation, with neighborhood polling places convenient for all park district residents.
Absentee ballots were available up to Dec. 2, by mail. Absentee ballots to be picked up at the Park District office at 5 Beach Rd. may be picked up by the voter (or by his or her authorized designee) by Dec. 8.
