An Old Brookville man was arrested Sunday night after an altercation in Manhasset with police left an officer injured, according to authorities.
Police said they responded to a report of a disturbance at Green’s Pub on Plandome Road in Manhasset at about 10:45 p.m. According to authorities, when police arrived at the pub, Frank Filippelli, 31, of Old Brookville, fled the scene.
Cops said they spotted Filippelli a few minutes later screaming as he ran across the street. The officers “followed Filippelli into an alleyway,” but he “began to run away and slammed an officer into his patrol car,” police said in a news release.
“The officers continued to struggle with Filippelli at which time he began to punch an officer in the face and attempted to bite them,” according to the news release.
The officers were able to “get control of the defendant,” and placed him under arrest, police said.
An officer was treated at a local hospital for injuries to his face and knees from the struggle, police said.
Filippelli is charged with second-degree assault and obstructing governmental administration.
