The North Shore INN, whose mission is to help the hungry and homeless in our local communities, has the constant struggle of making sure their revenue exceeds their expenses and their pantries are stocked with food and supplies to accommodate the many needy guests who attend their facility throughout the year.

In order to access donations, volunteer Janet Rosenberg dedicates some of her time to fundraising and visits various organizations, businesses and individuals, requesting donations and/or supplies to keep the INN’s soup kitchen in business.

Three years ago, she visited Grace’s Marketplace on Glen Cove Road on 81 Glen Cove Rd., Greenvale and found a valuable ally.

Rosenberg met with Grace Balducci, whose family runs the business. The empathy Balducci displayed upon listening to the plight of the Soup Kitchen was exceptional. Since then, Balducci has contributed monetary donations, especially during holiday seasons, and donates food and supplies every Friday. Each week, Rosenberg picks up and delivers these donations to the Soup Kitchen to accommodate the needs of the many guests who attend.

The generous donations and contributions that Balducci makes bears witness to the philanthropic and charitable character of Grace’s Marketplace’s understanding of those in need.
