The Village of Floral Park Architectural Review Board (ARB) will hold a public hearing on the proposed residential redevelopment of the former Patterson Energy Property located at 185 Magnolia Ave. The ARB hearing will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7:45 p.m. at the Village Hall Court Room. The hearing will address the application of Carriage Hill Developers, Inc. to subdivide the property into nine residential building lots. The subdivision application proposes incorporating the 10,500-square foot, village-owned property along Cisney Avenue into the proposed residential lots. Carriage Hill Developers has made an offer to purchase this parcel from the village for $120,000.

The Hillcrest Civic Association will meet on Friday, Feb. 26, at the Recreation Building at 7:30 p.m.


Saturday, Feb. 28

The Genealogy Federation of Long Island will host “Five Ways to Enhance Your Genealogy Research with old maps” on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Brentwood Public Library, 34 Second Ave. Lisa Louise Cooke will be the guest speaker. The Genealogy Federation of Long Island will host “Heir Searching Techniques” on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Patchogue-Medford Library, 54-60 E. Main St. in Patchogue. Help session begins at 9:30 a.m. Melissa Johnson will be the guest speaker, beginning at 10 a.m. Patchogue-Medford Genealogy Research Group will sponsor. Tuesday, March 3

The Nassau North Shore Christian Women’s Club will host a luncheon on March 3 at 12:15 p.m. at the Jolly Fisherman & Steak House, 25 Main St., Roslyn. For reservations call Jane Voss at 516-742-0861 (after 10 a.m.) or Alice Russo at 516-248-9726 by Feb. 24. Cancellations are essential. The cost of the luncheon is $26.

The Village of Floral Park will hold its public meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 3, at 8 p.m. at the village hall.


Wednesday, March 4

The Sewanhaka Central High School district’s Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA) meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at Sewanhaka High School in the school’s library at 7:30 p.m.


Thursday, March 5

John Lewis Childs School PTA meeting will be held at JLCS on Thursday, March 5, at 9 a.m.

The West End Civic Association will participate in a joint civic association meeting on Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m. in the recreation/pool building. At that time, the four civic associations will host the village candidates in advance of the village elections on March 18. All members are urged to attend, and ample opportunity will be available to talk to our mayor, two trustees, and village justice as to village matters and concerns.


Friday, March 6

The African Atlantic Genealogical Society meets on the first Fridays each month (Sept. through May), at the African American Museum, 110 N. Franklin St. in Hempstead. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Friday, March 6. Call Joysetta at 516-379-5466 for more information.

Floral Park-Bellerose School PTA meeting will be held on March 10 at Floral Park-Bellerose School at 9:15 a.m.

Heart For Fashion 2 will be held on March 12 at Floral Park Memorial High School.

AARP Floral Park Chapter 5224 will meet on March 16 at the Recreation Building at 1:30 p.m.

Election Day is March 18. Floral Park polls are open from noon to 9 p.m.

The Village of Floral Park will hold its public meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 19, at 8 p.m. at the village hall.

The Sewanhaka High School Spring Performance will be held on March 20 and 21.

Lions Club District 20-K2 Annual “Just 4 Women Expo” will be held on March 21 at the Floral Park Memorial High School from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
