On Saturday, Feb. 14, Lauryn Heskin, an 11-year-old from Floral Park, ran in the 2015 NYRR Millrose Games at the Armory. The games featured olympic and world championships medalists, world record holders and the best high school talent in the country.
As a national record holder and 10-time national champion, Heskin was extended an invitation to run in the Youth Girls’ 800m. She placed first with a personal record of 2:28.
The next day, Heskin was recognized for her outstanding achievements in track and received the 2014 USATF Long Island Youth Track Female Athlete of the Year honor. This was her third year in a row to receive the award.
Heskin is training with her team, Team Sports Center, under the guidance of coaches Vincent Duncan, Gene Heskin and Jim Becker as they get ready for the USATF National Indoor Track Championships.
