Arrest In Seaford

Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of a Seaford man who was involved in multiple auto accidents that occurred on Monday, April 20 at 5:49 p.m.

According to detectives, Sean McKenna, 51, was traveling eastbound on Jerusalem and was involved in five auto accidents with other moving vehicles. The accidents began in the vicinity of Allen Drive and continued eastbound on Jerusalem Avenue until Mell Gate. After striking the five vehicles, McKenna, who continued on, left the roadway, struck a Post Office mail box, and proceeded to destroy approximately 100 feet of wooden fencing. After continuing eastbound, McKenna then struck a wooden power pole. His vehicle finally came to stop a short distance later.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that McKenna was operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition. He was placed under arrest without further incident. Subsequent to his arrest, two bags of what is believed to be heroin were found in his vehicle.

During the multiple auto accidents there were two reported injuries, both of whom were occupants of the same vehicle and were transported to an area hospital. A 28 year old male driver sustained a collapsed lung, lacerated spleen and a fractured pelvis. He was admitted to the surgical intensive care unit. His 24-year-old female passenger sustained a contusion to her forehead. She was treated and released.

McKenna is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, reckless endangerment second degree, driving while ability impaired drugs, vehicular assault second degree, leaving the scene of an incident with serious injury and four counts of leaving the scene of an incident.

McKenna was admitted to an area hospital for an unrelated medical condition and will be arraigned when practical.
