A bicyclist was killed Friday night after he was stuck by a car in Holtsville, Suffolk County police said.
The bicyclist, whose identity was not immediately released, was traveling in the right lane of traffic, west of Morris Avenue, at 10 p.m., when he was struck by a 2011 Hyundai heading east on Expressway Drive South, police said.
The bicyclist was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The 20-year-old driver was not injured. The driver was not cited for any traffic violations.
The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing, police said. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
