WritingAward_052915ASyosset High School student Bonnie Kim has won a 2015 National Council of Teachers of English Award in Writing.

At total of 650 juniors were nominated by their schools to participate in this year’s NCTE program. Kim was one of 141 students across the county selected as a winner. Her personal narrative “Untitled,” tells of her relationship with her Korean immigrant grandfather.

All of the NCTE competition pieces were evaluated by national judges on content, purpose, audience, tone, word choice, organization, development and style. The judges also looked for writing that demonstrated effective and imaginative use of language to inform and move an audience. Kim received a certificate of her win and is listed on the NCTE’s website.
