Income-eligible older persons aged 60 plus can receive a one-time (per family, per year) coupon book worth $20 to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the Roslyn Farmers Market, from May 27 to Nov. 25. The farmers market is at Christopher Morley Park, 500 Searingtown Road on Wednesdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The coupons are provided by the New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program. They will be available at no cost after July 21 at easily accessible, convenient locations throughout Nassau County.
Farmers Markets are places where local farmers sell their produce directly to consumers, usually right off the trucks. The produce is seasonal, locally grown, fresh-picked and reasonably priced.
